TCI: Institute of Technical Chemistry

About us

The TCI carries out manifold research for the technical realisation of chemical and biological processes. This spans from the development of modern unit operations, analytical methods and sensors across the optimisation of up- and downstream processes to the qualitative and quantitative determination of metabolites and products. The versatile and often interdisciplinary research is mainly based on third-party funding and is carried out in close cooperation with partners in academia and industry.

A look into our history

The Institute of Technical Chemistry has a long history. At the TCI's secretary's office the book „Die Geschichte der Chemie an der Technischen Hochschule und Universität Hannover“ („The History of Chemistry at the Technical School and University of Hannover“) can be ordered. In this book is a chapter about the „Development of Technical Chemistry at the University of Hannover in the years 1969-1996“, written by the late director of the institute, Prof. Karl Schügerl. The text is also available as a PDF (in German) in the following section.

TCI International

As an internationally working institute, we would also like to give our foreign-language visitors an opportunity to inform themselves about our work. Here you will find brochures that report on our main research areas in various languages.
